Making a Splash

As a designer, I hate to admit it but the little space in the kitchen–you know, between your counter top and your cabinets–can alter the feel of your entire cooking space.

Backsplashes are probably the hardest thing to choose when it comes to designing a new kitchen. Countertops are important to nail down, along with cabinets–but it’s the backsplash that is going to send your stress levels into a design tizzy.

Personally, I think it’s about keeping it simple. A backsplash should never be complicated, and certainly not too busy. Here are some that I thought were particularly awesome. I’m a big fan of the inlaid brick or spanish ceramic tiling.

Take a peek and see what works for you.
