A good friend is moving into a new apartment this weekend. The lucky girl is walking into a spacious (compared to her last digs) place with concrete flooring in the heart of downtown Chattanooga. She was at first a bit nervous about what to do design-wise for the place as concrete can come across as a bit “cold.” (oh yes, pun intended).
I, on the other hand, got way too excited for her new design opportunity. I love the idea of a industrial-rustic home and cement flooring is just added help to accomplish this look.
She’s ditching most of her old furniture and has the ability to walk in with a clean slate. (ha, another pun for you). Which is hard on the wallet, certainly, but makes the design front so much easier.
So, starting with this great home above, I’m going to provide a few cool ideas for what to do with a concrete-floored space over the next few days. Whether you have a loft, a warehouse-turned-bachelor pad, or a slick hipster apartment in the middle of a charming Southern town–stay tuned and chime in with thoughts.
