Burning Up

Anyone who has renovated their kitchen will tell you that somehow it all comes down to the sink and the oven. Personally, I’m a big fan of the layout. I’ve lived with too many unnavigable tiny kitchens to say otherwise.

But I’ve also lived without an oven for a year. At first when we toured the apartment and noticed that the kitchen only had a stove top, we shrugged and thought, “well, who uses an oven that often anyway?”

Answer: you do. All the damn time.

It became such a pain to live without an oven. The smallest things would sneak up on you. Not only was baking out, but so was many many different types of meals. Improvisation became key for that year.

As it is, when looking to renovate–be sure to be a bit picky on your oven choices. They really are more than just a kitchen accessory.
